I took up photography in my early 20's after recieving a gift of a camera. I set up a darkroom at home and lived on chocolate and caffeine while developing my style and teaching myself black and white printing skills in my father's shed ('the darkroom').
A lack of natural light in Ireland forced me to head for Australia for a year to learn to surf and use an SLR camera. Returning to Ireland, I studied photography at Dun Laoghaire Institute of Art Design and Technology where I developed a passion for documentary photography.
After college I spent a number of years living between Ireland and France including two years in Paris. As there were no waves in Paris, I took up rollerblading as a way to get around and discover the city. I returned to Ireland in 2003 where rollerblading is not socially acceptable unless you're under 7! Since then I have been gradually building my photography services to include commercial, corporate portraits, event/PR, music and heritage photography.
The Techy Bit
All my images are full frame. I never crop and prefers to use fixed focal length lenses. Cameras used were an Olympus OM1N, Minolta Dynax 700si, Canon Powershot G3 and Konica Minolta 7D and a Nikon D200. These days, the PC is my digital dark room and each photograph recieves hours of post-production in Photoshop, Lightroom and the usual suite of professional photographer software.
