Derek spent two months travelling throughout northern Portugal shooting a variety of religious festivals. Most of the festivals featured both solemn religious parades as well as Rio-style carnivals. The towns and festivals visited were, Sao Goncalo in Amarante, Vacas das Cordas in Ponte de Lima, St John's Eve in Porto, and Fatima.
Also featured in this gallery is the Gypsy festival of Sainte Maries-de-la-Mer in the south of France.
