Derek's first travelled to Spain in 2002 and spent some time photographing around San Sebastian in the French Basque country. In early 2005 he spent a further two weeks surfing and travelling around the Costa de la Luz area of Andalucia and visited Conil de la Frontera, Vejer de la Frontera, Jerez, El Palmar and Sevilla.
